we got this collar, I only have to use the vibrating setting at high level to warn the dogs not to go near the gate and it worked wonder. Now, each time they are allowed into the yards, one by one, with the collar, they know what is expected and did not even attempt to go anywhere near the gate.

It does not harm the dog in anyway you can set it for a vibration or a beep however it does save you from getting a headache from a barking dog.
